When FocusMaine identified Maine’s Food Economy as one of our big bets to create jobs across the state, we had no idea how important this choice would be today. Food security, resilient food systems, and healthy foods have always been important. More than ever, we know that the producers and farmers who grow good food in Maine’s soil and sea are vital to emergency response and economic recovery. By helping to grow and sustain Maine’s food economy and its businesses, we create a stronger protective web for all Mainers.

Working with our terrific partners, our programs have provided essential funding and expertise to help businesses in Maine’s food economy who want to pivot in the context of COVID. Today, we want to share an example of what we’re doing to strengthen Maine’s food businesses in the face of this mighty challenge.
